Free Workout Classes in Boston

Ladies! Summer is just around the corner and if you’ve been looking to save money, yet still work on that swimsuit confidence - now is the perfect time to do it! Thanks to Boston Parks & Recreation, along with a variety of clubs around the city, there a ton of free and discounted workout classes available to the public – and they’re awesome!

Earlier this month I took a $5 charity COREPOWER yoga class at SOWA - yes, you heard me - a $5 yoga class in a beautiful warehouse. The proceeds went to Rosie’s Place. COREPOWER plans to host a charity class the second Sunday of each month at SOWA – look out for the next one!

COREPOWER Yoga is just one example. There are a quite a  variety of Boston clubs and organizations around the city that are offering weekly or one-off classes throughout the summer. In order to find and keep track of the free fitness classes, I highly suggest keeping an eye on Facebook and Eventbrite.

Here are a handful of free workout classes to get you started:

Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series

The Boston Health Commission, Boston Parks & Recreation, and Blue Cross Blue Shield MA have partnered to bring the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series to life. Between June 24th and September 29th, there will be 30 free outdoor fitness classes running weekly in 16 different Boston neighborhoods. The classes range from boot camp classes to walking groups to chair yoga classes - there’s something for everyone. Here’s the full schedule.

FIT on the Garden

Every Wednesday from 6-7pm, Under Armour will host a class on the Prudential Center’s South Garden. Classes run from June 6th-August 29th and will vary each week. Does it get better? Yes! Attendees will also receive 20% off an in-store purchase at Under Armour the night of the class. Space is limited for these classes, so be sure to sign up ahead of time.

Faneuil Hall Summer Sampler

As part of Faneuil Hall’s Summer Sampler series, there will be free BollyX Fitness and POUND classes at Faneuil Hall each week starting in June. Catch a BollyX Class every Tuesday at 6 pm. Or try POUND, which infuses yoga, pilates, and drums (I’m intrigued). POUND will take place Thursdays at 6 pm.

Space is limited for both classes, so be sure to get there early.

International Yoga Day (June 21st)

Kick off the Summer Solstice with a free yoga class in Copley Square to celebrate International Yoga Day with YogaHub and Yoga for Humanity. The yoga class will begin at 6:30 pm, however, stop by earlier to check out the health and wellness market and discover some new sustainable businesses. Reserve your spot today – Namaste.

Yoga on the River

Assembly Row is once again hosting a free yoga class each Saturday at 9 am at the Baxter Riverfront Park. Take a free yoga class and then have a low-key Saturday morning at the row! Registration is required and opens the Friday before class at 12 pm.

What are you waiting for? Grab a friend and head to a class today!
