Book Club Discussion Questions for 'Local Woman Missing' by Mary Kubica

Mary Kubica’s latest thriller is another page-turner! I read this book in several days and couldn’t put it down. It follows the disappearance of Meredith Dickey and her daughter Delilah over the span of a decade. When Delilah is miraculously rescued, the town can’t wait to find out what happened to her those eleven years ago. But there’s more than meets the eye and no one is prepared for the truth that will be revealed. (Warning: some spoilers ahead!

Discussion Guide

  1. The book starts off very intensely with Delilah escaping her kidnappers and being reunited with her family. Did that give you relief? Did it make you want to read more?

  2. A lot of the story is told from Meredith’s perspective. Did you find her to be a likeable character? Why or why not?

  3. Do you think the family handled the return of Delilah well? What would you have done differently?

  4. Meredith and Shelby’s doctor differed on their opinions about the baby’s birth. Have you ever had to advocate for your (or a family member’s) medical needs?

  5. This book is filled with “red herrings”. Who did you predict killed Shelby and Meredith?

  6. Do you agree with the lie shared regarding the DNA results? What would you have done if you were the Detective?

  7. How did the ending make you feel? Did you feel like it gave good closure?
