#72andShocktop Event re-cap

This past Saturday Shocktop came to the rescue by inviting us and all of Boston to pretend it was Summer for an evening. Yes, it is still freezing outside, but the Summer-themed bash was held indoors and for a few hours we really almost forgot we were on the tail end of the most snow-filled winter ever.

The event, #72andShocktop celebrated 72 degree weather and featured all of Shocktop’s best brews (our favorite being the Lemon Shandy, duh), lawn games, sand sculptures, lemon groves, an indoor bbq, a cabana deck with hot tubs and more. Sounds pretty unimaginable right? Well, it happened, take a look at our pictures below!

Best Places to Eat in Seattle

One thing we immediately observed upon visiting Seattle is that they LOVE food of all types. Unlike here in Boston, Seattle restaurants are open practically around the clock and it isn't unusual to see a group of friends sitting down to dinner at 11pm. In fact, the restaurant culture seems to overtake the need for bars or dance clubs, because, well, everyone loves to eat! Seattle is known for its top notch seafood, Asian fusion, and Scandinavian influences. We tried a bit of everything, so our Seattle Travel guide part 2 delves into our #JUGsApproved Seattle restaurants.

Local Gem: Exhale Battery Wharf

We are always looking for new ways to get and stay fit. And this winter it has been tougher than ever before to workout regularly because a) there is 6 feet of snow b) public transit is a hot mess (or ....a cold mess) c) it is dark out all the time d) we are still poor from Christmas shopping.

But tools Class Pass and Gilt City Deals are keeping us on the ball. Through Gilt, I recently tried a month at Exhale Battery Wharf, and let me tell you, this is the gym to go to in the winter.

Who's That Gal: Gianne Doherty of Organic Bath Co.

Winter is the time when our skin needs the most nourishing as we attempt to counter harsh winds and low temps, so we thought who better to catch up with than the eco-friendly bath and beauty company, Organic Bath Co.? Local Gem: Skoah Boston

Sure, you moisturize night and day, exfoliate, maybe even use a humidifier, but winter still does brutal things to your skin.  Have no fear, this is where Skoah comes in to the rescue!  The Vancouver-based spa has three footprints in Boston, and we were lucky enough to try it out last month.

Best Hotels in Boston for Your Parents

Since most of our apartments don't have kitchens capable of cooking a family size Thanksgiving meal, we return home for the festivities and once again become the guests of our parents. But what happens when our parents want to come into the city and be our guests? If you're like me, a twenty-something's apartment does NOT have room for anyone looking fresh linens, let alone an extra queen bed. So where do we point our parents when they want to stay in the city? I've got your go-to list. And, bonus, most of these hotels you'll probably want to spend a night or two in as well, if your parents will let you!

JUGs Approved Holiday Events in Boston

On Wednesday night Meredith and I attended Ladies Lounge at General Assembly which featured Eventbrite Boston's Senior Marketing Manager, Sara Steele-Rogers, and Bash Studio founder, Katheryn Yee. The two were brought together to speak on the theme celebration, and reminded us how important it is not only to market our events, but make them memorable.

So, in keeping with the celebration theme, I thought what better thing to talk about on a November Friday than more upcoming holiday events! Taking Sara's advice, I perused Eventbrite (which is also fantastic website to search for events, not just host your own) and within minutes gathered our top picks for the "must-attend" holiday events in the area. Here are our picks, including one for this evening:
